Seaside Musings.....
Enjoying our first full, free day here in Valencia, Spain, I camped out on the beach for the majority of the day soaking up rays - here are some random thoughts that flitted through my head along with the sand:
1) People are people everywhere you go on earth - husbands are still hen-pecked by their wives (to my right), families still enjoy spending time together (to my left) and babies always bring out a smile in passers by.
2) Fact: There are more people in Europe with tatoos and piercings than without. Said tatoos become unfortunate as the body ages....
3) I'm pretty sure that the whole "Europeans don't have the same views on nakedness that Americans do" is actually a myth perpetuated by European men so that the women will keep taking their tops off - there is, in fact, already a universal language, it's called gawking.
4) Random acts of kindness are always appreciated.
5) Young boys will, when asked, kick a soccer ball to a stranger who wants to briefly join in a pick up game - even if it's a American woman wearing a big, floppy hat....
6) People everywhere listen to American pop music - I'm glad the latest popular hits are actually pretty good, because they are being listened to worldwide
7) Corn roasted over an open fire with sea salt is incredibly yummy...
and last but not least,
8) Diet coke, especially mas fresas, is, in any country, still the nectar of the Gods.
